About Coach Design

The company "Coach Design" began in 1986 by the founder Chryss Jamieson who started an apprenticeship as a coach builder in 1970 after leaving school at the age of 16.

After serving 6 years learning the trade with the Brisbane City Council, moved on to take a position with a prominent Brisbane coach builder who specialized in luxury five star coaches. After gaining a huge amount of experience in luxury coach building, the timing was in place to follow his dreams of creating his own coach building business.

The business survived initially doing bus & coach repairs, spray painting and turning old coaches into mobile homes. As the demand for new bus & coaches increased in the early 90s, Coach Design took up the challenge to meet the market and combined with new innovative designs, took out the 1992 Coach of the Show award at the prestigious Sydney Bus & Coach Show. As time moved on, so did the ever increasing demand for Coach Design vehicles including the first 4x4 off-road safari tour bus.

These vehicles were a huge engineering challenge but it was not long before the company had another successful line of alternate type coach. The 4x4 market has now increased due a demanding call from the tour operators as tourists were looking for the beach or outback experience.

By early 2000,...

Coach Design had stamped it's supremacy on the coach building industry and with new designs and innovative ways, took out five in a row Coach of the Show awards at the Sydney Bus & Coach Shows.

The success of the 4x4 safari tour bus market had taken another turn as Coach Design could see a potential niche market in 4x4 motorhomes. Conventional motorhomes were unable to take up the adventure of remote outback Australia with its dirt, dusty highways and sandy beaches and so another line of vehicles were added to the list.
